Hide, Becky: Jay Z Makes First Reference To "Lemonade" In New Song

Jay Z has made his first public statement – kinda – in response to Beyoncé’s naming-and-shaming infidelity album, Lemonade.

Though there are still rumblings that Jay will respond to the rumours of an affair suggested in Lemonade with a tell-all album of his own (or, perhaps, in a joint album with wife Bey), he has nonetheless gone ahead and mentioned the controversy on a remix of Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up”.

It is – and sit down, because this might shock you – exclusive to Tidal.

According to Pitchfork (because we don’t have Tidal), Jay begins his verse with the following:

“You know you made it when the fact your marriage made it is worth millions/Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is.”

Later on, he references the fact that Prince’s music is only available to stream on Tidal thusly: “Prince left his masters where they safe and sound/ We never gonna let the elevator take him down!”

That’s either a reference to his own elevator skirmish with Bey’s sister Solange, or, a reference to the fact Prince was found dead in an elevator. If it’s the latter… that’s pretty dark, Hov!
