Don't Hurt Yourself: Judge Throws Out Plagiarism Case Against Beyoncé's "Lemonade"

What's worse? Looking jealous or crazy?

Recently-minted VMA champ Beyoncé is celebrating a legal victory over indie filmmaker Matthew Fulks, who sued Bey over the trailer for her visual album Lemonade back in June.

According to Pitchfork, Fulks claimed that the elliptical teaser plagiarised his short film Palinoia.

TMZ initially outlined the comparisons, and though some were compelling…

In court, Bey reportedly said that her film depicts “an African-American woman who progresses through stages of suspicion, denial, anger and ultimately, reconciliation in her relationship.”

Palinoia, she argued, is about a “white man who is distressed in the wake of a failed relationship.” Her lawyers also noted that supposedly plagiarised elements as a “parking garage” and “side-lit ominous figures” do not constitute copyright infringement.

The New York judge overseeing the case agreed, granting her motion to dismiss the case, THR reports.

A written explanation is coming, but in the meantime, this kind of covers it:
