It's Okay to Cry: "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Will End With Season Eight

For real this time.
We're truly sorry to bring you this heartbreaking news, but it's official: Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be the show's last.
Earlier today, NBC announced that the beloved comedy series will conclude after its upcoming eighth season, and will finish its run with 153 episodes (which is certainly not a bad effort).
"I'm so thankful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve," executive producer Dan Goor said in a statement posted to social media.
"I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. They are not only among the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become a family."
This isn't the first time Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been canned (sorry to trigger any traumatic memories). Back in 2018, Fox cancelled the show due to a drop in ratings, and absolutely no one was able to comprehend the news.
However, the show was only scrapped for 24 hours-ish, because it was picked up by NBC.
At this stage, it's not entirely clear why Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been cancelled. "Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers," Goor said in his statement.
It's safe to say fans are pretty damn devo.

According to Den of Geek, NBC also announced that the upcoming season won't premiere during this TV season as expected, but rather during the 2021 – 22 season. On top of that, it'll feature a shortened 10-episode run.
In June 2020, Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Terry Crews announced that Goor had scrapped four new episodes for Season 8, following George Floyd's death at the hands of a police officer.
"We've had a lot of somber talks about it and deep conversations and we hope through this we're going to make something that will be truly groundbreaking this year. We have an opportunity and we plan to use it in the best way possible," he told Access Hollywood.
The show's writers have also reportedly been busy figuring out how to incorporate the coronavirus pandemic into Season 8.
No exact release date for Season 8 has been confirmed yet, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on how to watch it down under.
For the time being, you'll just have to keep binge-watching Season 7, which finally landed on Netflix last weekend.
