"Iron Fist" May Have Deserved Cancellation, But Did These Other Netflix Shows?

Iron Fist joins a long list of cancelled Netflix shows.
This weekend came news that Iron Fist had finally been cancelled, and it certainly wasn't a surprise.
The show faced heavy criticism of white-washing over its two-season run, with lead character Danny Rand (Finn Jones) just generally considered an irritating character to boot.
But it still reminded us of all the other shows that have fallen victim to Netflix's savage cutting room floor.
With the help of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Gina Linetti, who herself survived a cancellation only to announce she's leaving the show anyway, we'll explore whether these shows actually deserved their untimely demises.
Girlboss

This show about the life of Sophia Amoruso (founder of Nasty Girl, a retailer for women's fashion) received some pretty average-to-terrible reviews when it aired last year.
It was cancelled after one season and I think it's safe to say that not too many people have thought about it since.
Gina's verdict: Stay in the [toilet emoji], honey.

Sense8

Sense8 was an unexpected hit and was praised for its representation of the LGBTQIA+ community. Sadly, after its second season, it too found itself on the chopping board and legions of fans vowed to cancel Netflix for not resolving the series.
Even though Netflix acquiesced and released a two-hour finale earlier this year, its cult status means there should definitely be some consideration to bring it back to the streaming overlord.
Gina's verdict: This was the TV show embodiment of the '100' emoji. Revive it ASAP.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

The brainchild of Tina Fey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt endured four seasons only to be canned earlier this year (with the final episodes scheduled for early 2019).
While the show wasn't ever particularly groundbreaking, its binge-inducing lightness will be missed by many.
Gina's verdict: Revive it ASAP.

Everything Sucks!

Tackling sexuality and identity in middle school is something that is seldom at the forefront of many teen dramas, but it was the bread and butter of Everything Sucks!
It definitely wasn't always the best experience but neither was early high school for many, so it probably deserves another chance.
Gina's verdict: Revive it ASAP.

House of Cards

With the, ahem, sudden departure of Kevin Spacey (who played Frank Underwood) from the show, Netflix announced its upcoming sixth season would be the last.
While Claire Underwood taking the spotlight is sure to be iconic, her house of cards (filled with murder and corruption) is sure to tumble by the end of it.
Gina's verdict: Stay in the [toilet emoji], honey.

The Get Down

Baz Luhrmann's crossover into Netflix was the most expensive production in the streaming giant's history, but it didn't pay off.
The Get Down was canned after one season, probably due to its budget and limited impact on audiences. But, given that other shows *cough*Iron Fist*cough* have been given a second season, it doesn't seem fair that their stories never progressed past 11 episodes.
Gina's verdict: Revive it ASAP.

Marco Polo

Marco Polo followed the historical figure of the same name as he traversed the Mongol Empire alongside Kublai Klan in his early days.
But while its second season managed to score some pretty solid reviews, it wasn't enough to save the high budget period piece.
Gina's verdict: Stay in the [toilet emoji], honey.
