Claire Will Be the Only Underwood In Kevin Spacey-Free “House of Cards” Finale

It’s official: You will not see Kevin Spacey in the final season of House of Cards.
Netflix has confirmed their flagship show will return for a final eight-episode season (shortened from their regular runs of 13 episodes). However, it’s not known if we’ll see it in 2018 or have to wait until 2019.
Production on the show was previously suspended when allegations of sexual misconduct and assault emerged against Spacey, the show’s star.
Netflix quickly came out and said they had already planned to wrap up the show next year with the sixth season. However, the writing team had been working on a finale that included Spacey’s ex-President, Frank Underwood. No longer.
It seems when House of Cards returns, Frank will have gone the way of Poochie.
Robin Wright will instead take over as the show’s lead, which makes a lot of narrative sense anyway, considering (spoiler alert) her character Claire Underwood became President of the United States at the end of Season Five.
“We’re very excited we were able to come to a good creative conclusion to the show,” Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, according to Vulture.
Meanwhile, British police continue to investigate sexual assault claims against Spacey.
