Netflix Suspends Next Season of "House of Cards" Until Further Notice

Trigger Warning: This article discusses sexual assault.

Yesterday, it was announced that, following allegations of sexual assault against the main actor and executive producer Kevin Spacey, Netflix would cancel their flagship series House of Cards after production of the sixth season wraps up.

Netflix has since announced that production of Season Six will be suspended "until further notice" in light of the allegations levelled against Spacey, a key figure in the show.

People are already speculating whether the final season will even make it to air due to the allegations.

Other fans of the show are calling for the show's producers to kill off Kevin Spacey's character, Francis Underwood, and continue the storyline with his wife, Claire.

The allegations against Spacey came to light after Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp was interviewed by Buzzfeed News about an experience he had with Spacey in 1986 when Rapp was just 14 years old.

Spacey later responded on Twitter with an apology which received a lot of criticism after he decided to publicly come out while addressing the assault allegations.

The scandal follows groundbreaking allegations against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein and subsequent movements like #MeToo, which aims to address the silencing of victims of sexual violence.
