How to Watch "Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist" In Australia

Prepare for spontaneous musical numbers.

If Glee was your not-so-secret guilty pleasure, and you enjoy watching La La Land on repeat, you're not going to want to miss Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.

The musical dramedy follows Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy), a smart computer coder who is trying to forge her own path in San Francisco. However, her life becomes rather strange when she begins hearing the innermost thoughts of the people around her through popular songs.

While she questions her own sanity at first, she soon comes to realise that her ability could help her connect to the world around her, and actually work to her advantage.

If singing and dancing is not your thing, don't write Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist off too quickly. The show, created by executive producer Austin Winberg, is more naturalistic and relatable than other musicals. For instance, it centres on everyday people, rather than terrifying CGI cats.

Plus, Winberg told The Hollywood Reporter that he wrote the series as a way of dealing with his father's death, and the storyline is very personal.

If you're still not sold: the show features a star-studded cast, including Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Alex Newell (Glee), Mary Steenburgen (Step Brothers) and Peter Gallagher (The O.C.). It looks like Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls will also be making an appearance.

Okay, I'm sold. Where do I watch it?

The first episode of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist aired in the United States on 7 January on NBC, but no new episodes will be released until February.

Aussies will be able to stream the series on Stan from Monday 17 February, with new episodes landing on the streaming service weekly, on the same day as the US.
