Fun Surprise: EB Games Accidentally Said Pre-Ordered PS5s Weren't Shipping Till 2021

Extreme 2020-dumpster-fire energy.
No, the PS5 hasn’t suddenly been delayed until 2021. (We, unfortunately, cannot say the same about almost every major film release…)
That’s despite the fact EB Games sent an email to customers who’d pre-ordered launch day PS5s and selected the shipping option, informing them that they’d receive their precious console in 2021, as Press-Start reports.
This was alarming, considering launch day is, y’know, 12 November 2020.
Recipients took to social media in a calm and orderly manner.
Hey guys, I previously received an order confirmation for the launch shipment (before this sold-out post), but today I received a second mail and the product description has changed to "2021 Shipment" and I'm super worried now. Tried calling the help line but had no answer?

@EBGamesAus hi, I received a confirmation email about the final payment for my PS5 pre order which was confirmed as a launch shipment but in the email today it said 2021 shipment. Can you please clarify this asap.

@EBGamesAus hey EB, I was lucky enough to preorder a launch shipment of the PS5 but I just got an email about the remaining amount and it states "2021 Shipment"...

@EBGamesAus Told I have to pay the remaining amount of my ps5 pre order however on the email it says 1x Ps5 2021 shipment? This is not the case as I pre ordered at 7am on the day of pre order release and have proof I ordered the launch shipment which gave me the expected delivery

But EB Games has confirmed to a number of outlets and those customers that the email was sent in error, offering the following correction:
"Due to a system error, you may have received an email stating that you were going to be charged the remaining balance of your PS5 pre-order as well as it stating that it was a 2021 shipment. Please rest assured that your console will be available for launch on 12 November and your final payment will not be due until closer to this date."
Meanwhile, at JB Hi-Fi, customers who pre-ordered launch day consoles have only a few days to pay off the product in full or lose their position in the queue.
Pre-orders for the product are otherwise suspended at all retailers in Australia.
So yes, in case you were wondering, the rollout for the next-gen console is going great.
