Fun Surprise: EB Games Accidentally Said Pre-Ordered PS5s Weren't Shipping Till 2021

Extreme 2020-dumpster-fire energy.

No, the PS5 hasn’t suddenly been delayed until 2021. (We, unfortunately, cannot say the same about almost every major film release…)

That’s despite the fact EB Games sent an email to customers who’d pre-ordered launch day PS5s and selected the shipping option, informing them that they’d receive their precious console in 2021, as Press-Start reports.

This was alarming, considering launch day is, y’know, 12 November 2020.

Recipients took to social media in a calm and orderly manner.

But EB Games has confirmed to a number of outlets and those customers that the email was sent in error, offering the following correction:

"Due to a system error, you may have received an email stating that you were going to be charged the remaining balance of your PS5 pre-order as well as it stating that it was a 2021 shipment. Please rest assured that your console will be available for launch on 12 November and your final payment will not be due until closer to this date."

Meanwhile, at JB Hi-Fi, customers who pre-ordered launch day consoles have only a few days to pay off the product in full or lose their position in the queue.

Pre-orders for the product are otherwise suspended at all retailers in Australia.

So yes, in case you were wondering, the rollout for the next-gen console is going great.
