Five Highlights From the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards

WandaVision and Kathryn Hahn steal the show.

All right all you pop culture fans, the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards has wrapped up so here’s all the tea you need to know.

It was the first time in MTV Awards history that the ceremony was split over two nights with night one dedicated to scripted awards and night two reserved for unscripted.

Comedians Leslie Jones and Nikki Glaser split the hosting for each night (love that for me) and the antics of WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn won the hearts of the people.

Here are our five highlights from the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

1. WandaVision cleans up.

The super popular Disney+ series WandaVision was the biggest winner on night one of the awards, taking home four golden popcorn trophies.

The series won the coveted Best Show award, as well as the award for Best Performance in a Show for actress Elizabeth Olsen.

Co-star Kathryn Hahn also won for Best Villain, and the duo of Hahn and Olsen won for Best Fight.

2. Selena Gomez wins Best New Unscripted Series.

If anyone had said to me five years ago Selena Gomez would win an award for a cooking show I'd say you were crazy.

Fast forward to now and the HBO Max show Selena + Chef has won the MTV award for Best New Unscripted Series.

Filmed in her home during quarantine, the star invites chefs into her kitchen to teach her to make everything from spicy miso ramen to buttermilk fried chicken.

3. Scarlett Johansson got slimed.

Black Widow actress Scarlett Johanson won the Generation Award, but it’s what happened to her while accepting it that got Twitter buzzing.

The actress accepted the award at home, and while giving her speech, Johansson’s husband Colin Jost poured green slime over her head.

“MTV, you got slimed,” Jost said.

“That’s Nickelodeon,” Johansson responded.

A nice touch from the loved-up couple. Skip to 1:25 for the sliming in the video below.

4. Borat, Ali G, Bruno and Admiral-General Haffaz Aladeen showed up.

The master of disguise Sacha Baron Cohen won the MTV award for Comedic Genius. In a pre-filmed acceptance speech, Borat begins to accept the award on Cohen’s behalf before Ali G interrupts him.

Finally, an undisguised Cohen comes out to stop the two characters from bangin’ 30s before Bruno arrives to ruin everything.

Defs a NSFW vid once Bruno rocks up.

5. Kathryn Hahn is queen of the awards.

Finally, Kathryn Hahn was so extra in every speech and interview she gave at the MTV awards and it explains why we stan her so much.

From her facial expressions and OTT hand gestures to a mock fight between her and Elizabeth Olsen, Kathryn Hahn is what the world needs right now.
