Fine, Here’s a Recipe for the Szechuan Sauce “Rick and Morty” Fans Are Going Wild Over

Sadly, it doesn't contain pickles.

The value of McDonald’s Szechuan sauce has eclipsed that of Bitcoin, thanks to Rick and Morty. (Okay, thanks to its rabid, sauce-obsessed fans and their seeming lack of fiscal responsibility.)

But if you were worried about it replacing our regular currency and creating some kind of Mad Max scenario where Szechuan sauce is more coveted than water or oil, you can relax, because the online chefs at HealthyJunkFood have developed a recipe that’s pretty darn close to the original.

In the video below, you can see them experiment with ingredients to emulate the 1998 Mulan promotional sauce, and their taste-testing guinea pigs seem to indicate the biggest difference is the “freshness”.

We won’t spoil the recipe here, but you’ll never guess the secret ingredient….
