Could a "Sonic Colors" Remaster Be in the Works?

It’s juice and jam time.

We've got some big news for Sonic the Hedgehog fans today, 'cos SEGA look set to announce they are remastering Sonic Colors—the Nintendo Wii exclusive—for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

Some very attentive fans found on the website of the German voiceover studio iksample that there was a listing for Sonic Colors Ultimate.

I found out that the German dubbing studio of the Sonic games dubbed Sonic Colours Remastered in 2020 :O

Unfortunately (or possibly deliberately) the listing has since been removed and the page now says it is “undergoing scheduled maintenance.”

A cunning move iksample, but you can’t fool us.

Rumours like these usually have their merit so don’t be surprised if SEGA make an announcement in the coming months.

Speculation aside, let's talk about the game itself.

Sonic Colors is set in outer space and players control Sonic the Hedgehog as he battles Doctor Eggman to free an alien race that he has enslaved.

The game’s main hub is Doctor Eggman’s Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park (no I’m not trying to beef up my wordcount, that’s what it’s called), a theme park that spans over five small planets chained together. Sonic must run his way through these planets and destroy each power source at their centre.

Like other Sonic games, players need to collect golden rings which act as his health bar, but SEGA added a new feature in the Wisp (alien race) power-ups. The power-ups were so loved by fans of the game that they were included in every Sonic game since.

Colors was actually pretty well received by gamers, scoring 79/100 on Metacritic which probably factored into SEGA’s decision to reportedly remaster the game.

While we're talking about Sonic, why not relive the first design they had for last year's Sonic the Hedgehog movie? Truly awful.

Sonic Colors Remastered has no official release date but we’ll update you when we know more.
