Sonic the Hedgehog and More Retro SEGA Faves Just Landed in App Stores, Totally Free

**Further highlighting how teensy 16-bit consoles actually were, Sega has dumped a bunch of classic games onto the Apple and Android app stores for free.**

Yes, you absolutely read that correctly.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Kid Chameleon, Altered Beast, Comix Zone and Phantasy Star II have all been released and are literally available for download right now. The once-mighty games company also promises to drop a new classic each month. (Give. Us. Road. Rash.)

Of course, nothing’s ever truly free in this life. If you want the free versions of the games, you’ll have to endure some pre-roll advertising. Or, you can pay a couple of bucks and enjoy them ad-free.

Either way, keep an eye out for future SEGA Forever releases. Check out the trailer for their relaunch below, and prepare to drool from the Pavlovian response that comes with hearing Sonic collecting rings.
