Big W Were Meant to Drop 2,000 PS5s Today But Scalpers Bought Them All

Luckily they didn't get away with it.
Big W were set to drop 2,000 PS5s on their website today at 10am AEST but scalpers found a way to purchase them before they were made live to the public.
Don’t worry, I’m raging too.
The scalpers found a way into the backend of Big W’s site and bought hundreds of the highly sought-after consoles with the purpose of selling them on for a profit.
How was this found out? Well, the scalping group posted screenshots of the purchase confirmation emails onto their Instagram Story ‘cos nothing screams ‘criminal mastermind’ like infiltrating the Big W website, buying all the PS5 stock and then bragging about it online.

Thankfully, Big W were alerted to the dodgy manoeuvre by several people online and released a statement saying that they would not honour the orders placed by the scalping group.
“We can confirm an issue on our website today caused by some unsuccessful attempts at placing fraudulent orders,” the retailers said.
“The issue has now been fixed and we can ensure our loyal customers waiting to order PS5 consoles will not be impacted.”

Big W have confirmed that there will no longer be a stock drop of PS5s today (devo we know), but an announcement is imminent regarding when they do put their rumoured 2,000 consoles up for sale.
If you’re still trying to get your hands on a PS5 then we recommend following the PS5 Stock Alerts Australia Twitter account. They have up-to-the-minute alerts about stock rumours and are very reliable in their information.
Happy PS5 hunting; we hope you get one.
