Ben Affleck’s Done as Batman, Says Casey Affleck, Accidentally

Casey Affleck probably wishes there was a bedsheet he could hide under right about now.

In an interview on a baseball radio show in Affleck county (aka, Bawwstaahn), Casey described his big brother Ben as “an okay Batman,” before backtracking and adding, “No, I thought he was great.”

A bit of harmless bro-on-bro razzing, right? Well, Casey can probably expect the noogie of a lifetime for dropping this next clanger: “But he’s not going to do [The Batman], I don’t think.”

When the hosts expressed surprised, Casey backpedaled faster than a commitment-phobic janitor who’s suddenly confronted with the prospect of raising his teenage nephew: “Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”

His reps later told Buzzfeed that Casey was just “having fun with the folks at the Red Sox game”.

The elder Affleck has been contending with rumours he was hanging up the cape and cowl for some time—despite the fact he only debuted as Bats in 2016, during Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Since then, he has played Bruce Wayne three more times (Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, the upcoming Justice League).

Initially, he was set to write and direct the standalone feature The Batman, but he backed out in January, handing over the reins to Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes).

Recently, he arrived at Comic-Con to assured fans he enjoyed playing Batman, and a rep has since told Buzzfeed “he’ll continue to be Batman as long as the studio will have him.”

Either way, Ben’s going to be real mad at Casey. But then, he’s had plenty of reason to be mad at him in the past too.
