Are You Prepared for a "Walking Dead" Version of "Pokémon Go"?

The new Walking Dead app is about to produce a bunch of walking dead on our streets.

Remember The Walking Dead? (If not, you're forgiven.) Well, it's still fumbling through its seasons with Rick (for now) and the gang.

To raise its profile (from the dead), there will be a new augmented reality app called The Walking Dead: Our World, that features gameplay from the once-extremely popular Pokémon Go app.

It gives new meaning to flogging a dead horse(s).

The app will see players appear on a virtual map as a character from the show (Daryl will definitely be available) and will require the player to physically walk (IRL) to advance on the app's map.

Gameplay appears to be around shooting the zombies, but the teaser is so vague that it's really anyone's guess. Maybe players will have to tame their zombies to make them more human? Or collect fingers? Yeah, who knows.

Understandably, given The Walking Dead's fleeting relevance, not everyone's super keen for the release of this app.

The announcement comes just weeks after the Jurassic World Alive app was released, featuring similar gameplay but with scary human-eating lizards.

If you're actually still interested in becoming a walking dead, the game will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play stores from 12 July.
