Will Rick Grimes From "The Walking Dead" Finally Get Devoured by Zombies? We Think Yes

Spoilers for the previous season of The Walking Dead (and maybe its future) ahead.

While some of us may have dropped off many seasons ago, you may be interested to know that The Walking Dead is still going strong(ish) after finishing its eighth season with many more in plan.

However, news has hit today that Andrew Lincoln, who plays main character Rick Grimes, will make the ninth season his last.

If early reports are true, it'll mark the end of an era after eight seasons with the good cop-turned overlord-turned goodish guy again being at the helm of the ship of this motley crew of survivors.

There are reports that Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, is considering a huge contract to take on a larger role as the series' main man, which will surely please his legion of fans.

But, most importantly, how will Rick make his exit?

Well, given that it's The Walking Dead we're talking about, we highly doubt it will be a graceful and gore-less experience.

If you stopped watching after the first few seasons, there are spoilers ahead.

Firstly, one of the most-loved series originals, Glenn (played by Steven Yuen) was tragically beaten to a pulp by current bad guy, Negan, and his baseball bat, Lucille.

Then there was Carl, the teenage son of Rick Grimes, falling victim to a walker bite while trying to help another survivor.

There have also been countless other almost-original characters who've been chewed (R.I.P. T-Dog), bitten (R.I.P. Andrea), brutally decapitated (R.I.P. Hershel) and tragically shot (R.I.P. Beth).

Our money's on Rick having the tear-jerking exit (being savagely mauled by a horde of hungry walkers to save another one of our beloved characters, like Daryl) or the le shock exit (where he is randomly bitten by a walker only to reveal it later on); like son, like father after all.

We'll just have to wait until October when Season 9 is released on Foxtel in Australia.
