Telltale's "The Walking Dead" Series Has Been Brought Back From the Dead

Another game company will take over the unfinished last season of The Walking Dead.

A few months back, game developer Telltale Games declared bankruptcy, leaving the future of popular game series' such as The Walking Dead (TWD), Game of Thrones and The Wolf Among Us in serious doubt.

While it was announced that future seasons of those titles were, indeed, out of the question for now, it was particularly tough for some players who realised that the final two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season were also not going to happen.

Thankfully, Skybound Games, co-founded by Robert Kirkman (responsible for The Walking Dead comics and TV show), has decided to take on the final two episodes for the TWD series.

The studio told Variety that it took a lot of work to get to this point.

"It's been a ton of work logistically and legally to get us to a place where we're able to roll up our sleeves and get to the actual work," the studio said.

"We're excited to let you know that many of the talented, passionate team members who originally worked on the game are resuming development efforts today!

"It's likely that previous seasons of the game may be unavailable to purchase for a few days as we transition—but don't panic!—we'll have everything back online ASAP."

The game's story follows Clementine, a child in the first few seasons, who grows up during a zombie apocalypse and has to make tough decisions along the way to survive in the new world.

After Telltale announced its sudden bankruptcy, they were heavily criticised for its treatment toward its employers who were laid-off without any of the legally-required severance packages.

There's no release date for the final TWD episodes or whether the studio will pick up any of the remaining Telltale titles but things are looking up, for now.
