PS4's "Days Gone" Looks Exactly Like "The Walking Dead", and Maybe It's Arriving Too Late

Days Gone looks like the game that would've taken off during the first few seasons of The Walking Dead.
There's no denying pop culture goes through phases and eras of genres after a popular film or series is released.
When Twilight came out, blood-suckers occupied our screens for a while. When The Hunger Games series hit cinemas, there was (and arguably, still is) a serious dystopian phase. And when The Walking Dead came out, zombies became all the rage. The list could go on.
However, when titles are released near the end or after that phase, they often get lost in the noise due to our disinterest.
Enter Days Gone, an upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive that drops a biker (very reminiscent of Daryl from The Walking Dead) into a wooded, lush open world is infested with the dead.
Game Informer just released an in-depth look into the game, which is slated to be released next year (after being pushed back from its early 2018 release).
Days Gone from @BendStudio is on our cover this month and we have a full month of coverage planned. https://t.co/glS4YQ78Ul pic.twitter.com/Jc1C4spCyB

Still, despite all the hype that the game's developers are trying to drum up, their audience isn't particularly interested.
IMO it just looks like slapped together combo of the “Gruff manly men” of Gears of War and the mindless shooting of any zombie game of the early 2010s. I hope I’m wrong and it surprises me

we're still talking about Days Gone? in this economy?

That game seems...aggressively uninteresting.

*someone shows me Days Gone*

Doesn't look like anything to me.
Remember when I predicted that God of War would be the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive?

Well, I also predict that Days Gone will be the slowest. pic.twitter.com/GaPb4IrtCB
I hope Game Infomer shows me something about Days Gone that brings my interest level above the 0% it currently sits at.

Is Days Gone the video game equivalent of Roman Reigns? The company keeps pushing it, giving it a lot of time at big shows, and the audience doesn't seem to be behind it like Sony hopes.

It's not really a surprise given that Days Gone's biggest appeal is its likeness to The Walking Dead, a show that has had an eight-season run and whose audience has dwindled in its last few seasons.
Days Gone looks a survival/horror game fan's best nightmare, but whether it will survive the apathy of a generation already onto the next thing is something we'll find out in 2019.
