Things Are Getting Stranger: Telltale's Going to Release a "Stranger Things" Game

Get ready to choose your own adventure in the Upside Down.

Netflix and game developer Telltale Games have announced they will be working on some video game titles in the coming years, including an episodic graphic adventure set in the Stranger Things world.

According to Tech Radar, Telltale's Minecraft: Story Mode, another episodic choose-your-own-adventure, will also be adapted into a simpler version to launch on Netflix's streaming service.

The addition of interactive stories to Netflix isn't a new thing. The streaming service has previously released Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, an interactive story, so Telltale's Minecraft would be joining the slowly-growing section.

Telltale is known for their graphic novel-like video games that allow players to choose dialogue and make key decisions. The Stranger Things title, however, won't appear on Netflix and will instead be released as a full game like their other popular series The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Batman: The Telltale Series.

Most Telltale games don't follow any storyline in the source material, or even necessarily have the same characters, so we can assume that this one won't be any different. Telltale's Game of Thrones game had the same towns and featured some of the show's characters but focused on the drama between House Forrester and House Whitehill; houses that have yet to appear in the show.

Similarly, The Walking Dead series (aside from Michonne's game) follows the story of Clementine as she ages in a zombie apocalypse. (Clementine does not appear in the title show or its spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead.)

At this stage, however, there's no word yet when the Stranger Things title will be released (we'll assume next year for now) but word is Minecraft: Story Mode is set to come out this spring.

It's a good time to be alive.
