Step Aside "Pokémon GO", a "Jurassic World" App Is About to Be Released

Just when you thought you were over Pokémon GO, here comes a new addiction.

Pokémon Go might be so 2016, but a new augmented-reality app promoting the upcoming Jurassic World sequel will be bringing those vibes back to 2018. Life always finds a way.

The app, Jurassic World Alive, is said to be just like Pokémon Go but with nightmare-inducing teeth and claws. Perfect.

Players can (IRL) walk around finding and catching dinosaurs, battling their dinosaurs against other players, and extracting DNA from their deadly pets to create new hybrid dinos.

It's also said that if you don't feel like walking anywhere, you can just send a virtual drone to do the hard yards.

The president of the app's developer, Ludia, said that their goal was to immerse players with the prehistoric killer lizards in a way that's never been done before.

"With Jurassic World Alive, our goal is for audiences to be fully immersed into a world with living dinosaurs in a way that's never been possible until today," Ludia's president Alex Thabet said in a statement.

"We're giving them the opportunity to explore and connect with likeminded players while building and interacting with these powerful prehistoric species."

If you're super keen, you're still going to have to wait until a bit after the release date of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on 7 June.
