Happy Birthday “Pokémon GO”; Apparently You’re Still a Thing

Pokémon Go was the height of cool last year, but like all fads, it fizzled pretty spectacularly.
Despite huge drops in players, Forbes reported that apparently 65 million of us, every month, still try to damn well catch them all.
So, chances are that someone in your vicinity has played the game in the last few days.

To celebrate the game's one-year anniversary, creators Niantic are throwing a semi-low-key festival at the end of the month in Chicago, as well as introducing a bunch of goodies in the game.
From July 6 to July 24, players will be able to catch a special edition "Ash Hat Pikachu". As the name suggests, it's a regular Pikachu wearing Ash's iconic hat. If you evolve your Pikachu into a Raichu (but ew, why would you?), it maintains the cap.
Aside from that, there will also be anniversary boxes which include fun lil' things like ultra balls, incubators and max revives.
If you're persisting with the game, this is probably great news for you.
