Adidas Congratulates Runners for ‘Surviving the Boston Marathon’

Adidas has sent out a poorly-worded email a day after the 2017 Boston Marathon.
The company sent out an email to some of its customers that had recently completed the marathon with the subject line “Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!”
It was intended to get runners to share their photos of the event and buy new Adidas products. It ended up as a PR disaster, living up to the backlash that other major companies such as Pepsi and United Airlines have received in the past few weeks.
The Boston Marathon bombings happened in 2013 and last December, Patriots Day, a film about the events of that day, was released, refreshing the world's mind of the event that left three people dead and 264 injured.
Twitter, as expected, blew up over the PR fail.
@mikd33 @adidas Hey @adidas I heard you're hiring a new PR person. Where should I send my resume?

Adidas has since apologised over Twitter.
