Lost a Few Instagram Followers? It Might Be a Bug, Not You

Don't stress, you might not actually be losing followers on Instagram.
Losing followers on Instagram has become an integral part of life in the last five years. We all have come to expect and accept that some people will drop you for reasons unknown; but whatever, you don't need them, right?
In the last few days, however, some Instagram users noticed that this ordinary, everyday phenomenon had become a little bit too exaggerated.
While users with a smaller follower count (let's say, under 500) only reported losses in the single digits, the damage on bigger accounts, like Kylie Jenner's or Selena Gomez's, reached the millions.
A social media consultant, Matt Navarra, shared the approximate follower losses on Twitter.
According to his figures, Kylie Jenner had lost 2.5 million, for Selena Gomez and Cristiano Ronaldo it was 2.3 million, while follower losses for Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Nike were all more than one million.
Instagram issued they were aware of the bug and were working to fix it by 9am Pacific Standard Time on 15 February (4am EST, 1am AWST on 16 February).
So, if you presume you were a victim of Instagram's Great Follower Purge of 2019, things should be set right soon enough.
