10 Nostalgic Aussie Snacks We All Wish Still Existed
I’m still hangry over the loss of these.
One thing is for sure about the 2020s: everything about the early 2000s is making a comeback.
From our fashion to makeup and entertainment, even Walkmans and flip phones are trendy again.
But one thing we reckon everyone should jump on is all the nostalgic snacks we remember from that time (and maybe even a little later).
So, here’s our list of snackies that we reckon should totally make a comeback this decade.
1. Sunnyboys
Starting off with an oldie but a goodie, National Food’s Sunnyboys were the classic triangular shaped, flavoured ice-block that managed to keep us all cool in a time when mum said no to turning on the aircon.

Whether you were a fan of cola or orange explosion, these bad bois made regular icy poles embarrassed to exist.
2. Potato Smiles
Next up are delicious McCain Potato Smiles—perfect for when your parents just didn’t feel like cooking an intricate dinner.
Not only did these taste waaay better than chips but their smiles just made you wanna smile, right? (Unless you low-key found them creepy, of course.)
While the OG tasty bois aren’t available anymore, McCain has introduced two very similar products called Emojibites and Quick Cook Mini Smiles, so race to Coles.
3. In a Biskit
This one may be a bit of a controversial one, especially for the Shapes lovers out there, but NABISCO’s In a Biskit snacks were bussin’.

Topping the list were defs their Dixie Drumstix and Big Cheese flavours, I need them in my life again.
4. Samboy chips
Now, let’s talk about Samboy chippies.

Not only does the packaging remind me of DMAG and Total Girl magazines from back in the day but this one was a perfect snack for those early Saturday mornings watching cartoons on the ABC.
These are a goodie but I’m ngl, Smith’s Chips still take the cake.
5. Paddle Pop Frozen Thick Shake
Next on the list is another sweet throwback.
Chocolate ice cream has never been the same since the Paddle Pop Frozen Thick Shake was discontinued.

This sugary dessert was just the perfect hunger stopper when you were passing your local lunch bar or servo with the ‘rents.
6. Tasty Toobs
Now, a rival to Cheezles: these cylindrical tasty chips were the best way to eat and accessorise as a young Aussie.

These guys were owned by Smith’s but clearly weren’t as popular as their Original or Salt and Vinegar flavoured chips.
7. Original Milo Bar
Who says you can’t have some protein with sugar? Not Milo.
Whether you’re a fan of the chocolatey malt drink or not, the bar was a staple in your school lunch box, and it is dearly missed.

While there are still heaps of Milo bars on the market these days, nothing quite compares to the OG.
8. Vegemite Snack Abouts
Here’s one to terrify the non-Australians.

Yes, we used to dip biscuits into Vegemite and eat it like cheese or peanut butter. It’s ‘cos Vegemite slaps, okay?
Another lunchbox favourite, this salty snack was a great one to share at recess with your mates.
9. Yowie chocolate and ice cream
Another frozen favourite just like the Paddle Pop ice cream is Yowie chocolate and its sister ice cream.

Same experience with the servo or lunch bar, just depends on which one was your fave.
10. Tiny Teddy Dippers
Finally, the last snack on the list is another lunch box essential.
While we thankfully saw the return of Dunkaroos last year, we’re still missing the sweet chocolatey goodness of Tiny Teddy Dippers.
