Oh Boy, McCain Has Finally Brought Back Potato Smiles

Ah McCain, you’ve done it again.

Since 2009, Aussies have been left with a hole in their stomach that only a McCain’s Potato Smile could fill. Finally, after 12 years of outcry, they’re back in a new miniature form.

Just like the original but smaller, and cooking in just eight minutes, a packet of these crispy golden bad boys will set you back $4.30.

Bloody bargain.

The Potato Smile achieved cult-like fame in Australia by being a beloved staple on the menu of any school canteen. I do feel sorry for anyone who was at school and didn’t buy themselves a small pack of Smiles. That ain’t livin’ Barry.

In their 12-year absence, the Potato Smiles became a part of Aussie folklore with students sharing their experiences of eating them to non-Potato Smile believers.

“I’m telling you man, they’re real,” I imagine they would say.

Okay, so maybe that’s not true but for years fans did try to petition McCain with the company revealing more than 50 per cent of requests on their Facebook page were to bring back the Potato Smiles.

They kinda gave in and released the McCain EmotiBites, but they just weren’t the same.

Now finally, as part of their Quick Cook range of frozen foods, McCain have released the Mini Smiles.

McCain Australia’s Potato Manager (great job title btw) Nicole Doolette said McCain was excited to see the iconic snack return.

“It’s great to be able to bring Smiles back on shelves with a twist that is beneficial to our customers,” she said.

“The Quick Cook range was created to be fast with no compromise. We see these products as an essential side-of-plate lunch and dinner option for all individuals and families.”

Thank you Doolette, you’re truly doing God’s work.
