Coles and Woolworths Have Reintroduced Toilet Paper Limits Nationwide

It comes after another panic-buying frenzy.
If you thought the toilet paper hoarding was over, think again. Woolworths and Coles have reinstated national limits on the number of loo rolls customers can buy, amid an increase in coronavirus cases in Victoria.
While Woolworths had already reintroduced the limits in Victoria earlier this week, they have now been extended to every store across Australia.
Woolies customers will be able to buy up to two packs of toilet paper. Although, Coles is taking a stricter approach and only allowing customers to buy one pack of toilet paper each.
The last time we experienced people flocking to supermarkets to panic buy toilet paper was in March.
However, Woolworths Managing Director Claire Peters issued a statement saying they're taking preventative action now to stop panic buying from reaching the levels we saw before.
"While the [national] demand is not at the same level as Victoria, we're taking preventative action now to get ahead of any excessive buying this weekend and help maintain social distancing in our stores," she said.
"We have plenty of stock for all of us, so we encourage customers to buy only what they need and think of others in the community as they shop this weekend."
Peters highlighted that once shopping patterns return to the levels we saw in May and June, supermarkets will be able to wind back their limits.
Additionally, Woolies has also put limits on items including rice, pasta and long-life milk in its Victorian stores.
On the other hand, Coles has put limits on flour, sugar, paper towels and mince.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said customers should not start panic buying.
"I'm sure [panic buying] will pass as it did last time. There's no need for it, and I think, today, it's important to reassure people the outbreak doesn't mean there's a problem," Mr Morrison said.
