Your Fried Chicken Prayers Have Been Answered: KFC Will Start Delivering In Australia

Chicken run.

New Zealand may still lay claim to Lorde, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and acres upon acres of unearthed Hobbit skeletons, but it can no longer lord over us (get it?) KFC deliveries.

KFC Australia has announced it will trial home deliveries next month, reportedly an attempt to compete with UberEATS and Red Rooster (which has been flinging chooks direct to homes since 2014, and relies on delivery for more than 10 per cent of all sales).

According to the SMH, KFC Australia’s managing director Nikki Lawson says home delivery trials will start from eight of their outlets within three weeks.

The full list of participating stores hasn’t been finalised; however, it’s been confirmed a KFC outlet in Sydney’s beachside suburb of Manly will get first crack.

Deliveries will be run by Foodora, utilising cars, motorbikes and bicycles.

When the KFC delivery trial was rolled out in New Zealand, NZ Post was charged with making the drops.

Of course, before KFC commits to Australia-wide deliveries, they’ll apparently evaluate customer demand, the effect on service for in-store customers and whether or not quality can be maintained for the customers who refuse to leave their couch for some fried chicken. (We’re going to assume they won’t be so picky, TBH.)
