Your "Atlanta" Nightmare Is Real Because "Teddy Perkins" Turned Up to the Emmys

Welp, there goes your best chance at a good night’s sleep.

The 2018 Emmy Awards are going down in Los Angeles right now, and Atlanta is getting shut-out across the board, losing to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Barry in basically every major category.

But, in a way, Atlanta has won its own kind of prize: Most Effed-Up Awards Show Appearance.

In the nightmarish show’s S2 episode "Teddy Perkins", star Donald Glover introduced us to Atlanta’s most indelible character to date: a tortured, hermetic singer with bleached skin. (Sound familiar?)

Teddy, played by Glover, tormented LaKeith Stanfield’s Darius over 40 seemingly endless minutes in the special episode. Glover was heavily expected to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Emmy as a result, and Hiro Murai was tipped for the Outstanding Director trophy. Alas, the Teddy Perkins Hour (Including Adverts) of Horror was denied.

However, Teddy "himself" still rocked up to the ceremony, seated in the front-row next to the guy from This Is Us who isn’t Sterling K. Brown, Milo Ventimiglia or the kindly doctor.

He even congratulated actual Outstanding Actor winner, Bill Hader.

Adding to the weirdness: Glover was apparantly seated elsewhere.

In short: Teddy Perkins lives, and Cardi B is going to have a very difficult time telling all these different versions of Donald Glover apart.
