You All Spent $150,000 on LEGO After Watching "LEGO Masters" Last Week

This is how you're beating isolation boredom.
It is safe to say that practicing social distancing and self-isolating is getting pretty tedious, and we are all keeping an eye out for new activities to try to keep us entertained while we're stuck at home.
Well, it looks like a lot of you found something to do after watching the highly anticipated return of LEGO Masters last week, when the second season premiered on Sunday 19 April.
According to data supplied by eBay, the number of LEGO sales on the website increased by 92 per cent during the episode, making it the largest spike eBay has seen this year.

If you're not familiar with the show, LEGO Masters sees a bunch of teams compete to build the best LEGO project. Based off the British series of the same name, Nine's Aussie series is hosted by comedian Hamish Blake and judged by Lego designer Ryan "The Brickman" McNaught.
With 1.239 million viewers tuning in to watch the S2 premiere, it was the most watched entertainment show last Sunday night.
Evidently, the contestants' epic creations inspired you guys to flex your own LEGO skills, with three LEGO sets sold every minute on eBay during Sunday's epsiode.
In fact, Aussies spent a massive $150,000 on LEGO in the 24 hours after the episode aired. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman, Disney and Avengers LEGO were particularly popular. Plus, people really up for a challenge were also flocking to buy LEGO Town City and LEGO Technic items.
Given the influx in purchases, spending on LEGO is now forecast to grow by 33 per cent on eBay this year to around $30 million.
Considering virtual gigs and TikTok have been so popular during the coronavirus pandemic, it's interesting to see people using more traditional pursuits to cure their #iso boredom.
