Winter Is Late: “Game Of Thrones” Will Be Delayed In 2017, Because Weather

You wouldn’t think the podcast UFC Unfiltered would be the place to get your breaking Game Of Thrones news, and yet…

GOT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss visited the UFC podcast as part of their Season Six victory lap, breaking fans' hearts with the revelation that Season Seven will take a little longer to arrive.

The reason? Filming has been delayed by unseasonably warm weather in much of Europe, where the show is shot.

That’s right: Though winter finally “came” in GOT’s last episode, Europe is still waiting.

"We’re starting a bit later because, you know, the end of this season, winter is here, and that means sunny weather doesn’t serve our purposes anymore, so we pushed back everything down the line to get some grim, grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot," they explained.

Normally, the show debuts in April of every year.

Though you’ll have to wait a few more months to see (spoiler alert) what rule under Queen Cersei actually looks like, consider the alternative: Do you really want to watch Jon Snow frolicking in the green, grassy plains of a thawed North? Didn’t think so.
