Will Kanye Drop "Jesus Is King" Today? I Wonder...

He’s leaving it to the wire.

In what would be the only predictable moment of Kanye West’s wild career, his ninth solo album, Jesus Is King, is expected to not materialise today on its promised 27 September release date.

A few weeks back, West’s wife Kim Kardashian cryptically announced the album and its September drop date on Instagram, and it was later confirmed by West on his own website.

Jesus Is King, set to feature songs with titles like "Baptized" and "Sweet Jesus", is apparently gospel-influenced, similar to the Sunday Service live performances West has given since the release of his last record, Ye.

But alas, you may just have to make do with clips of his Sunday Services this weekend instead, because sources close to the situation told Rolling Stone that the album won’t land today.

According to NY Times writer Joe Coscarelli, "people on the ground" at West’s Wyoming ranch are trying to still make the release happen, but it’s not seeming likely.

If that’s the case, it would become the second post-Ye project to not meet its intended release date. West had previously plotted to unveil Yandhi on 23 November 2018, but it never came. (Jesus is King is believed to be a totally different beast to whatever Yandhi would have sounded like.)

Most people on Twitter saw this coming from a mile away, though they still held out hope.

And yet, Kim's holding steadfast, posting this just two days ago!

Anyway, we’re just glad that the only reason we’re disappointed in West today is because he’s a bit late with his music, given the other reasons we’ve had to be disappointed in him lately.

It’s like he’s the Old Kanye again!
