Which Noble Land-Mermaid Will Air the "Parks and Rec" Reunion in Australia?

Who will be a beautiful rule-breaking moth?

On the list of "good things resulting from the coronavirus pandemic", it goes "1. Parks and Recreation reunion", and then the list abruptly ends.

The entire cast of the beloved NBC sitcom agreed to reprise their characters for a one-off, socially distanced special, penned by the original show’s writers, including Michael Schur (who moved onto The Good Place after Parks and Rec).

The news warmed the hearts of a weary world.

Each of the stars were posted an iPhone and lighting kit so they could film the ep, in which Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) attempts to stay connected with her pals (including those played by Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari and powerful muskox Rashida Jones, plus special guests) despite the pesky issue of COVID-19.

The assembled episode, intended as a fundraiser for Feeding America, has officially aired in the United States to much acclaim. However, that’s a cold comfort to those of us in Australia, who don’t have immediate access to it.

Back in the day, Seven Network had the first-run rights to Parks and Recreation for its seven-season run. However, the network has confirmed to Student Edge that their rights have expired.

These days, we can find all seasons of the show on streaming services Stan and Amazon Prime Video, but they also told us they don’t have plans to add the one-off episode. Foxtel does not appear to have those plans either.

Attempts to stream it via the official NBC site, where it’s available in the US, will be difficult for anyone without a VPN, as it’s currently geo-blocked. We wish we had better news, but for now, stay positive: Leslie would want us to hold out hope.

We will of course be sure to keep you updated if anything changes and a brave local outfit decides to gift us with this precious special (or, if it winds up on iTunes, where you can buy all seven seasons, or YouTube).
