Stan Trolled Toilet Paper-Hoarders Last Night With a Classic "Seinfeld" Bit

Elaine Benes speaks for us all.

So, you’ve just come home from a busy day of threatening people at knife-point for a precious roll of toilet paper, and decided to put your feet up on your newly-hoarded mountain of TP to unwind.

If that was you last night, and you turned on Aussie streaming service Stan to kick back and forget all about coronavirus, you may have been faced with the new reality that is your bog roll-obsessed life.

For this is what met users of Stan yesterday:

Oh, how a mirror is the cruellest judge of all! By turning this iconic bit into a dashboard carousel, the Quilton collectors of Australia were forced to identify as a Seinfeld punchline.

If you aren’t familiar with Seinfeld episode "The Stall" (Episode 12 of Season 5), Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) finds herself in a sticky situation when her public restroom cubicle runs out of paper. After asking for salvation from her loo-mate, Elaine is told by the other woman that she "can’t spare a square". Not even one measly ply!

Later, Elaine takes revenge by stealing all the available toilet rolls, which was comically hilarious in the year 1994, when the episode aired, but is now our literal reality.

Anyway, you might want to remember that Kleenex has a production warehouse in South Australia, so even if things turn a little Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in the coming weeks, we’re not likely to face a shortage anytime soon.

Seinfeld is available to stream on Stan, btw.
