The “Uncharted” Movie Trailer Just Dropped So Lovers of the Game Get Excited

Here’s everything you need to know.

After what feels like an eternity since it was announced, finally, we have our first trailer for Uncharted and we gotta admit, gamers are gonna love it.

The idea of turning the four-game treasure hunting adventure series into a film was first floated in 2008, so it’s exciting that after all this time we have a trailer.

With big names like Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg starring in the film, it’s almost guaranteed to be our generation’s equivalent of Indiana Jones (Sorry, Harrison Ford).

Here’s everything you need to know before Uncharted comes out.

What is Uncharted?

Uncharted is a video game series that follows treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he travels around the world discovering lost treasures that are sought after by villainous characters.

Drake is often joined on these journeys by his mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan who acts as the games loveable and humourous father-figure.

The duo—along with a couple of flings—span across four video games and have definitely inspired a whole new generation of people to become explorers.

As for the Uncharted movie, the film is like a prequel to the game series, telling the story of Drake’s first adventure as well as how he came to be friends with Sully.

When is Uncharted coming out in Australia?

You won’t need to wait very long for Uncharted to come out either with the film slated to hit Australian cinemas on 18 February.

This brings me great joy.

Who stars in Uncharted?

Holland takes on the role of Nathan Drake in the film alongside Wahlberg as Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan.

Joining them is Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, a fellow treasure hunter and the love interest for Drake.

Rounding out the cast is lovable Spanish actor Antonio Banderas. He serves as the film’s villain, a ruthless treasure hunter who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

The only thing we can't forgive about the casting is that Wahlberg is missing Sully's trademark moustache.

Do I need to play the games before I see Uncharted?

Considering the film serves as a prequel to the games, you don’t need to play them before seeing the movie.

However, if you love video games and are looking for something that has awesome gameplay, amazing graphics (for the time) and a rock-solid plot that will get you invested in the characters, then you should definitely get yourself a copy of the Uncharted game to play.

Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg hits Aussie cinemas on 18 November.
