Watch Michelle Obama, Sarah Silverman And Demi Lovato Dominate At The DNC

What's wrong with being confident?

In the melee of the Democratic National Convention, Demi Lovato did something that didn’t receive nearly enough media attention: she spoke powerfully about living with mental illness, citing her own experience with bipolar.

“I stand here today as proof that you can live a normal and empowered life with mental illness,” she said.

“I’m proud to support a presidential candidate who will fight to ensure all people living with mental health conditions get the care they need to lead fulfilling lives. That candidate is Hillary Clinton.”

It was one of the few times (before Bernie Sanders offered his ringing endorsement) that Clinton’s name was not met with scattered boos - somewhat ironic for a convention day that otherwise put high-power women front and center.

You can watch Lovato's impassioned plea for better treatment for those with mental illness below.

Then, you can watch her crush a rendition of “Confident”.

Lovato was just one of the high-profile speakers at the first day of the DNC, which also included Sarah Silverman (who notably chastised ‘Bernie Bros’)...

... and First Lady Michelle Obama (whose own speech is already being considered one of the best ever to be delivered at a convention).

"I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves," she closed.

"And I watch my daughters — two beautiful, intelligent black young women — playing with their dogs on the White House lawn."

Politics aside, that’s better star power than the RNC managed with Scott Baio and Antonio Sabato Jr.

But then again, not all big name celebs were happy to be at the DNC.
