Vogue Suggests Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid Are the Faces of Gender Fluidity

Notoriously beautiful couple, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid, have outraged the Twittersphere over their latest appearance in Vogue.
To be fair though, it's not entirely their fault. The journalist who wrote the piece, Maya Singer, was really grasping at (kinda offensive) straws when she penned the headline: "Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Are Part of a New Generation Embracing Gender Fluidity."
The headline comes from a short—and very cringe-worthy—moment in the interview when Hadid and Malik began talking about how they wear each other's clothes.
"I shop in your closet all the time, don’t I?" Hadid said to Malik.
"Yeah, but same, what was that T-shirt I borrowed the other day?" Malik replied. "I like that shirt. And if it’s tight on me, so what? It doesn’t matter if it was made for a girl."
"Totally. It’s not about gender. It’s about, like, shapes. And what feels good on you that day. And anyway, it’s fun to experiment..." Hadid chimed in.
At this point, I think it's important to include the definition of gender fluidity here. HINT: It doesn't have much to do with changing clothes.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines this as:
of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity is not fixed.
There are a lot of opinions floating around about this whole saga.
Hi I am gender fluid/non binary and it is a lot more nuanced than borrowing a clothing item off the opposite sex

Think Vogue is a bit confused on what gender fluidity is! Wearing your gf's T-shirt does not make you gender fluid https://t.co/5yvh8FmUky pic.twitter.com/yPADJDwvPV

I love the images, the story of them being a couple is enough. To try grounding it in gender fluidity? A bit of a reach.

That Zayn and Gigi Vogue interview is messy. Where was the talk about Gender Fluidity? That was BARELY breaking Gender Norms. Gross.
