Twitter Now Has A ‘Like’ Button In The Shape Of A Heart

And yet, Facebook continues to deny us ‘Dislike’.
An increasingly desperate Twitter has replace the ‘Fav’ star with a ‘Like’ heart. We don’t know how to feel about this (literally).
Though the heart officially represents 'likes', a video posted to Twitter's Twitter account suggests it can actually mean many things: stay strong, congrats, lol, and most concerningly, adorbs.
You can say a lot with a heart. Introducing a new way to show how you feel on Twitter: https://t.co/WKBEmORXNW pic.twitter.com/G4ZGe0rDTP

Twitter’s Product Manager, Akarshan Kumar, explained the shift on a blog post.
"We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers," he said, ignoring the fact that Twitter has seen almost zero growth in the U.S. over the past two quarters.
"You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favourite," he continued.
"The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones.”
That hasn’t kept a band of rebels from creating a Google Chrome extension that brings back the fallen ‘Fav’ star in place of the heart.
Will the ‘Like’ heart be a success? Well, Carly Rae Jepsen will probably be a fan.
Update: Actually, it turns out you can change the heart into any emoji you please, so long as you install this extension. Go nuts!
