Wow, Facebook 'Reactions' Have Arrived; Do You Like, Or Are You Sad-Angry?

Your Facebook feed has changed for good. But is it for the better?

Like. Love. Haha. Wow. Sad. Angry. Facebook will now let you choose between these six ‘Reactions’ when responding to a Facebook post.

Five months after rolling out ‘Reactions’ to Irish and Spanish Facebook users, Mark Zuckerberg and company have officially debuted the new suite of feelings globally.

This means users are no longer forced to hit Like when they want to acknowledge someone’s baby photos/ political ravings. They can now express the full, complicated range of human emotion, from Wow to Angry.

(Sadly, the rumoured 'Dislike' option remains elusive.)

The Facebook Newsroom is here to explain how it all works:

“To add a reaction, hold down the Like button on mobile or hover over the Like button on desktop to see the reaction image options, then tap either Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry.”

Of course, you can expect this addition to introduce a whole new range of anxieties for those who measure their self-worth via social media. Where previously a lack of Likes might have inspired nervous self-doubt, users now have to wonder why a post only received a Like rather than a Love. And imagine the existential despair that might come if you get a constant stream of Sads on what you felt were totally ordinary status updates.

Good luck out there.
