Trump Likes The Idea of Kanye Running For President (Maybe Because A Poll Says Trump Would Win, Somehow)

Donald Trump, the bafflingly popular frontrunner for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016, has shared his thoughts on Kanye West running for President in 2020, as proposed at the MTV VMAs.

Grilled by Rolling Stone on the matter, Trump noted he doesn’t quite get the comparisons people make between the two of them (and neither do we, because Kanye is an awfully talented and deceptively self-aware genius whose works surpasses that of any other 21st century artist, and whose past mistakes are open wounds that help him create further masterpieces and worldwide unity through music, while Donald Trump is just awful).

Still, the guy who brought us The Apprentice feels a kinship with the man who bestowed upon us Yeezus.

“I was actually watching, I saw him [at the VMAs], and I said, ‘That’s very interesting. I wonder where he got that idea,” Trump said.

“[West is] actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy.

“I hope to run against him someday.”

A market research firm has already surveyed 500 adults to see if Trump or West would triumph in a hypothetical bout.

Devastatingly, Trump leads 38 per cent to 21 per cent with 41 per cent undecided. It’s all about hearts and minds, however, so perhaps the impending release of Kanye’s belated album Swish will influence some of those undecideds.

The White House has already spoken to Kanye’s 2020 Presidential pledge, saying they look “forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.” It was a nice dig at Trump, who is these days famous for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in lieu of proposing actionable policy, but previously was best known for having trained some kind of living, hair-filled hat to sit on his head for years on end.
