Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic Mascots Are Cat-People with the Super-Powers of Teleportation and Telekinesis

Makes sense.
The Olympic mascots for Tokyo’s 2020 games have been voted on by 205,000 elementary school students.
Their picks? Super-powered cat-people with a variety of abilities that allow them to “move anywhere instantaneously” and “talk with stones and the wind”.
Kinda puts Sydney’s 2000 Olympic Mascots to shame. Can you talk to the wind, Millie?
The Olympic Mascot, in blue and white, has a “strong sense of justice and is very athletic”. Meanwhile, the pink and white Paralympic Mascot is “usually calm” and has a “kind heart that loves nature”. Also, it can “move things just by looking at them”.
BTW, though they have “opposite personalities,” they are still “very good friends”.
Phew!
Obviously, Twitter has drawn the obvious Pokémon and Anime comparisons. But if you’re not a fan of their cat-person aesthetic, don’t take it out entirely on the students who voted for them. Their choices were basically exclusively cat-people:
