TikTok Australia Reveal Which Songs Aussies Can’t Stop Listening to this Summer

Cos I’m too messy 🎶

If you’ve spent the last three months trying not get Lola Young’s “Messy” out of your head, you wouldn’t be the only one.

The song has been everywhere online.

TikTok have revealed it’s one of their Songs of the Summer. The top ten songs on this list have scored 3.4 billion views between them, but other than than “Messy” none of the other songs on the list were released in the last year.

The number one song of the summer was “La La La” by Naughty Boy and Sam Smith, which was first released in 2013.

This particular song was used as part of a trend where one person mouthed the lyrics to the camera while other people in the background proceeded to do something more outlandish.

Also on the list was one of 5 Seconds of Summer’s songs, “She Looks So Perfect”.

This song sat on the background of the ‘you’re so funny trend’ where creators and TikTokers used the sound as background music while the captions on screen usually shared some sort of trauma about their lives.

I.e. “you’re so funny” “thanks I was raised in a private all boys boarding school where I was the only girl” or “you’re so funny” “thanks my fave band went on an 18 month hiatus 8 years ago and then one died” – in reference to Liam Payne and One Direction.

It got so popular, Luke Hemmings from the band even got involved with his own version of the trend. And other stars like Drew Barrymore and Joe Jonas also made their own versions.
