The Biggest Moments From the 2025 TikTok Awards Last Week

Fiyero? What are you doing here?
It was an award show so dramatic we had to wait one week before we could tell you all about it.
Yes, it’s that time of year again – the annual TikTok Awards.
This year was hosted by Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk and had all your fave Aussie creators packed into the TikTok Entertainment Centre (formerly ICC Sydney Theatre).
Note: TikTok actually bought the rights so that really is the name of the theatre now!
One week on, we recap some of the big moments from the night.
Creators speak about their experience of racism.
Unfortunately, this year’s awards saw some creators experience prejudice on the red carpet.
Creator Niiyell who was invited to the awards posted a video which showed a photographer approaching her and her friend as they lined up on the media wall and asked them to get out of their way.
Additionally Florence Baito, who was nominated for a TikTok Award, was also walking the red carpet when a photographer (a different photographer) did not take her picture and ask her to get off the carpet.
A more in-depth explanation can be found here.
TikTok Australia have now made a statement based on what happened on their own account.
They noted that they wanted everyone to walk the red carpet but because of a storm in Sydney, the venue’s risk management told them they had to move some of their outside activations indoors. Because they moved some of these around, it made the space they were using challenging for people to move through.
Big wins at the awards.
This year some of the biggest wins went to Leah Halton who won Video of the Year and Illai Matangi who won Creator of the Year.
Illai won in a pretty stacked category too. He was nominated alongside Latisha Clark, Tammy Hembrow, Jiny Maeng and Ben Stubbs.
Other notable wins include Lance Savali who won Music Artist of the Year and Andy Cooks who won Food Creator of the Year.
Jonathan Bailey’s surprise appearance?
And in an appearance no one saw coming Jonathan Bailey, aka Fiyero, aka Anthony Bridgerton rocked up on stage?
When announcing the recipient of the TikTok for Good Award, Sophie Monk waved her magical Glinda wand and out came Jonathan.
The way we would have genuinely fallen out of our seats.
He presented the award to conservationist Josh Neille who took out the gong for TikTok for Good.
