The Wiggles Will Make Their Triple J Like A Version Debut This Friday

The Wiggles Will Make Their Triple J Like A Version Debut This Friday

I already know it’s in my 2021 Hottest 100 list.

As we all know, Fridays are reserved for triple j's Like A Version, and this week, listeners will be treated to one of their all-time favourite bands.

That’s right, the power team that made all of our childhood dreams come true—The Wiggles—will be heading to the triple j studio to perform a cover of a song to adoring fans who need a throwback.

Even more exciting: the good ol’ original Red and Purple Wiggles, Murray and Jeff, will be joining the current crew to step into the triple j studio and blast out a cover.

So, who came up with this idea?

Well, on Thursday last week during Bryce and Ebony’s weekday morning show, listener Jack from Adelaide asked the almighty question: "Why not get the OG Wiggles in the studio?"

From here, Bryce and Ebony randomly FaceTimed the legend himself, Anthony Wiggle (the Blue Wiggle) while he was mid-shoot for a Halloween video.

After some bants, Anthony finally got back to the duo, confirming that the group would perform for Like A Version.

"I went to Simon, the Phantom of the Opera, Lachie from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Emma, the incredible singer/dancer, Murray the Rock God of Australia, Jeff the sleep piano genius, Greg was unavailable—but we're on board, mates. It's a yes!"

All I have to say is this: thank you listener Jack!

Amazing! But what are they gonna play?

So, as you may have guessed, the song that The Wiggles will be playing on Friday is being kept secret until they press record.

But in Like A Version tradition, we will get a cheeky clue on Friday morning before the group plays.

As for now, we’ll just have to wait, but in the meantime please enjoy this Wiggles cover of One Direction’s "Steal My Girl" on Fitzy and Wippa back in 2014.

You’re welcome.
