Lorde Has Released Her New Single “Solar Power” and It’s Summery As Heck

It’s the artist's first new track since 2017.
Earlier this week, Lorde treated the world to the cover art for her third album, and the name of her new single "Solar Power".
Let's just say, the internet was obsessed.
While the announcement was the news that we’ve been waiting almost four years for, it ultimately meant that more waiting for the actual music was to come.
Except, Lorde sneakily dropped her latest track this morning, shocking fans and making us all miss summer.
Happy Friday indeed.

"Solar Power" and its music video brings us all the bright and warm vibes with its acoustic guitars, light vocals and, of course, it’s beachy setting. It's nothing like the songs on Lorde's previous album Melodrama, which is full of much darker tones and melodramatic pop.
In an interview with triple j Breakfast, Lorde explained how she’s been working on this latest music for years.
“I feel good. It’s been years of working on this music,” Lorde told the station.
“I go full hibernation when I’m working, so to be back is kind of surreal.
“I think I started writing the song literally summers ago, so it’s so cool for me to have it coming out. I love this song; I love this album. I’m just hyped and I think it’s right for right now.”
According to Lorde, "Solar Power" isn’t the only track paying homage to the warmer months.
She explained how all the music on the upcoming album, which is also called Solar Power, is inspired by the beach and the sun.
“Every song on the album, I did say it has to sound like the sun, and this one in a big way. It sounds like the beach, the waves, the girls lying on the beach. I really wanted it to have that vibe. The guitars, the drums—everything’s so sunny,” she explained to Bryce Mills and Ebony Boadu.
"I hope it makes people go outside and really just get out there and listen to what the natural world has to tell them. That's my goal for this [album]."

Unfortunately, we don’t yet have the release date for the new album. But now that the single has dropped, hopefully we won't have to wait for much longer (surely).
On Tuesday when Lorde released the album art, fans went absolutely wild ‘cos it features a big pic of uh… her butt.
And of course, the memes are glorious.

So, apparently there's a solar eclipse today and a solar eclipse is when the moon blocks out the sun.

However, if you're someone that managed to share a pic of Lorde's new album on Twitter without getting your account nuked or your tweet taken down, you're one of the lucky ones.
On Wednesday, Twitter users logged in only to find that their tweets were deleted or their accounts had been suspended from Twitter (for seemingly no reason).
While Lorde revealed that she doesn’t actually spend a lot of time online, she did confirm that she has seen some of the memes and tweets, which is amazing.
“I’m not really on the internet now, which is great. I love that for me. But it does mean I miss a lot and I really don’t know what’s being said about me. I like it that way,” she said.
“I was sent a couple of memes. They were very funny, I liked them. I’m so out of touch with meme culture but I’m down. All the memes!”
In an email sent to fans, Lorde revealed some other sneaky details of the album, including her continued collaboration with producer Jack Antonoff.
That’s all the dees we’ve got for now, so you can catch me vibing to this tune all weekend.
