The Wiggles' Like A Version Gave Us All the Psychedelic and Nostalgic Vibes

Well, that’s my March playlist sorted.

After heaps of anticipation, today was the day that The Wiggles—new and old—finally made it to the triple j studios to give us the Like A Version cover we all so desperately needed.

Following a random request by a triple j listener on Thursday last week, breakfast hosts Bryce and Ebony gave the Blue Wiggle, Anthony, a ring and threw the idea out there.

Finally, Anthony and the rest of The Wiggles crew agreed that this was a special moment that they couldn’t miss, so they booked it in.

While the announcement was enough to get some of us through, a lot of us were impatiently waiting to find out which track they were going to cover.

Well, the moment finally came this morning as they revealed that they would be covering Tame Impala’s "Elephant".

This alone brought happy tears to Aussie music fans’ eyes. However, during the epic performance, the cheeky group decided to mash up the famous psychedelic rock song with The Wiggles' iconic chart-topper "Fruit Salad".

Yep, that’s my daily dose of dopamine achieved.

With Lachie on keytar (amazing) and vocals, Emma on the drums, Simon also on vocals, Murray on guitar, Anthony on bass and Jeff on the keyboard, the group rocked out some real good vibes.

To top it all off, Anthony came dressed as a literal elephant, so they’ve seriously done it all. Every other musician is quaking in their boots rn.

The wiggles just proved they can do Tama Impala's Elephant but Tama impala could never do Wake up jeff.

Of course, Anthony stole the show by dressing as an elephant, while also giving us a casual barefoot moment. Get comfy, I guess?

Now that we’ve all had a listen to the infamous track, it’s not hard to see why it has gone down so well.

In fact, some fans have been so impressed by the cover that they’re already calling for it to win the 2021 Hottest 100, which would make it the first Like A Version to ever make it to the top.

Even some celebs like Andy Lee jumped on the bandwagon. Heck, there’s already a Twitter account dedicated to The Wiggles taking out the top spot in the Hottest 100.

A reminder every day that @TheWiggles did this until they win @triplej Hottest 100. #TheWigglesForHottest100 pic.twitter.com/xbvGwgrToU

All in all, the cover gave a lot of us some great, groovy and nostalgic vibes that I’m sure we’ll keep listening to well into 2021.
