Welp: Tame Impala’s “The Slow Rush” Tour Has Been Rescheduled for October 2022

Postpone those psychedelic grooves, again.
In some devastating news, groovy musical icon Tame Impala have rescheduled their Australian and New Zealand The Slow Rush tour again due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent lockdowns affecting most Aussie states.
The show was initially set for April 2020 but in September last year, it was rescheduled to December 2021. Now, we have to wait another whole year for Tame Impala to touch down on home soil again and provide us with the tunes we so desperately need.
Tame Impala’s last live Australian performance was in July 2019 at the Splendour in the Grass festival. Since then, they have been touring in North America for their very first shows since the pandemic hit.
Fortunately, current ticketholders are still being advised to hold onto their tickets as they will remain valid. Plus, there are still some limited tickets available to purchase if you’ve become a more recent fan.
If you’re sick of all the rescheduling, you can of course request a refund which is available here, but Tame Impala are telling all keen fans to #keepyourtickets.
On top of the rescheduled dates, Tame Impala have also announced the addition of Genisis Owusu, a Canberra rapper, and Sycco, a First Nations writer/producer to the tour.
“His debut album Smiling With No Teeth is music in a league of its own, surpassing genre and disrupting boundaries,” Chugg Entertainment said in a statement.
“The record garnered critical praise on release in March 2021, NME calling it a “transcendent conceptual opus”, Rolling Stone touting it as “the making of a music giant” and The Guardian claiming it to be “a freaky, funky marvel of a debut”.”
“Known for his multi-faceted showmanship, Owusu will bring a powerful live performance when he hits the stage at arenas around Australia next year. Listen to Missing Molars here.”
Sycco is also an artist to be reckoned with, having a breakout year in music during 2020, Sycco came in at #29 in triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2021.
“She’s eclipsed over 20 million streams, accumulating over 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone,” Chugg Entertainment said.
“Quickly establishing herself as one of Australia’s most promising and popular new artists, Sycco’s colourful, psychedelic-pop sonics and crystal-clear melodies have gained her global recognition – while her debut EP, Sycco’s First EP, was released to acclaim in July 2021.”
“Back in April, Sycco took on Tame Impala's “Lost In Yesterday” for a cover at the 2021 APRA Music Awards – a track she’s also just released, listen here.”
While the rescheduled The Slow Rush dates are a huge bummer, at least it’s not a complete cancellation. I just hope that we will get to see Tame Impala live before the end of the world, ‘cos at this rate, it’s not lookin’ good.
So, before the tour gets rescheduled again, here are the current dates:
- Auckland – Spark Arena: Saturday 15 October 2022

- Sydney – Qudos Bank Arena: Thursday 20 October 2022
