The Lonely Island Wrote a Song for the Oscars, But It Was Canned for Having Too Many Chrises

Bring everyone back to the Dolby Theatre and make them perform this song immediately.
If you sat through all three hours and 50 minutes of the 90th Academy Awards and thought to yourself, "This is fine, but why aren’t The Lonely Island performing a four-minute song about Hollywood’s many Chrises," you don’t even realise how close you came to seeing it happen.
The team behind 2017 Oscar-snubbee Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping have today revealed the demo for a song they’d written for the ceremony, after being courted by the show’s producers.
However, their proposed song was apparently "financially and logistically impossible", probably because it required Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt and Chris Rock to sing in unison, alongside Gal Gadot, Tiffany Haddish, Jason Momoa, Vin Diesel, the cast of Star Wars and Pennywise.
(Oh, and The Snowman’s Michael Fassbender!)
Instead, the broadcast was entirely Andy Samberg-free.
However, since The Lonely Island went to the trouble of storyboarding their opus, they’ve decided to share it with us to enjoy, and to wonder, ‘what might have been’.
Enjoy. (We know you will.)
