The Internet Is Politely Dragging Tom Hanks for Putting Too Much Vegemite on His Toast

He's self-isolating on the Gold Coast.
Last week, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson made headlines after it was confirmed they'd tested positive for coronavirus. The pair were admitted to a hospital on the Gold Coast and began a 14-day quarantine.
The actor, who was in Queensland to work on Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley biopic, was the first major celebrity to contract the virus. While we knew coronavirus would inevitably infiltrate the world of Hollywood, the internet definitely didn't take the news well.

Today, Tom took to social media to reassure fans that he and his wife are doing okay, uploading a photo of a kangaroo toy holding the Aussie flag, and two pieces of Vegemite toast.
It all sounds very cute, however, there was something incredibly disturbing about the pic.
From the looks of it, Tom has absolutely no clue how to actually make Vegemite toast. In fact, he's smothered the salty spread on there like it's Nutella.

It's truly spine-chilling stuff.
"Thanks to the Helpers. Let's take care of ourselves and each other. Hanx," he captioned the post, blissfully unaware of the insane amount of Vegemite he's got on his toast.
Of course, we cannot entirely blame Tom. After all, he's not Australian, and probably doesn't realise that he's made an exceptionally big mistake.
Plus, perhaps no one has shown him the art of spreading the yeast extract, like Hugh Jackman did for Jimmy Fallon.
Either way, Aussies on Twitter are trying to help him out.
Dear Tom, that’s lovely but you spread the vegemite way too thick! The secret to vegemite toast is 1/3 vegemite to 2/3 butter maximum! And add smashed avocado for extra awesomeness.

okay you need to scrape around 60% of that vegemite off, otherwise it's gonna be nasty and hurt your mouth friend.

'Life is like a tube of Vegemite. Don't try it all at once.'

Although, even some Australians have defended Tom's toast. The Bachelor host Osher Günsberg claimed the amount of Vegemite used was totally acceptable.
I for one am proud of you Tom.

This is some local-thickness spreading mate.
Welcome to our country. https://t.co/1dDt7Ta6Jm
One thing's for sure: Tom can survive anything if he can stomach that amount of Vegemite.

The real question is how much is too much Vegemite or too little?
