Millennial Woes: Vegemite Toast Now Costs $7, Houses Still Unaffordable

Avocado toast is out, gourmet vegemite toast is in.

Just when you thought your vegemite toast was safe, cafes around Australia have started coming for your beloved, no-frills salty toast.

A cafe in Newcastle, Core Espresso, has made news around the country for taking the idea of Vegemite on toast and then heaving it out the window of a five-storey building.

Essentially, the $7 (though their website says $8) menu choice is a breadboard, two slices of sourdough, an admittedly generous smear of Vegemite next to the bread and a dollop of butter with a decorative salad leaf.

In case you're still unsure of how this is possible, feast your eyes below.

It looks pretty lush, which is exactly the opposite of what you'd expect from a Vegemite toast order.

Since the delicious and, apparently, exorbitantly-priced avocado on toast was smeared to smithereens, we've had to turn to other avenues for our typically-millennial brunch fixes. Vegemite on toast was that modest, responsible choice.

But now, I guess we'll just have to find something new (and cheaper) or worse, eat breakfast in our badly-lit and foilage-less unaesthetic homes.
