Three Spider-Men, two releases.

Eight months after spidey swung into cinemas in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he's making a return.

But it’s not a new instalment, or another actor joining the golden line-up of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire.

Apparently, the people just want more Spider-Man—and the movie studios want more moolah!

When it was first released, Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed $1.9 billion globally. This was huge at a time when cinemas are being increasingly less frequented. But you can always rely on the Marvel movie effect.

Even so—how could it be that a movie already seen by so many could top the box office again? When you look at the current stats, it’s simple.

Sony’s horror film The Invitation topped the box office last weekend at only $6.8 million. This was the lowest first-place finish in more than a year.

Meanwhile, Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick has been way up there, even after fifteen weekends since its release.

So, it’s looking likely for Spider-Man: No Way Home to take the top spot. And apparently, we’re also being gifted 11 minutes of new footage.

This is a trend that looks set to continue, as Universal is bringing back Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster Jaws to thousands of cinemas in the U.S. this weekend. Other theatre owners have been booking screenings of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and E.T.

It’s gonna be a big summer for nostalgia.
